Their own styles seem to be of varying quality, and importantly do not
integrate Feedburner's services, which hopefully are of real use to
subscribers and potential subscribers. Therefore, we use this unofficial
workaround, which consists of filling up the first 512 bytes of a
document so that the sniffer doesn't encounter the RSS tag in time to
autodetect it. Now, without further ado, we present you with a valid
XML feed, presented in the manner we have chosen to offer it.

&lt;p&gt;The Council on Foreign Relations (CFR) is an independent, nonpartisan membership organization, think tank, and publisher dedicated to being a resource for its members, government officials, business executives, journalists, educators and students, civic and religious leaders, and other interested citizens in order to help them better understand the world and the foreign policy choices facing the United States and other countries. &lt;p&gt;In the nation's capital, the Council's Washington Program provides a nonpartisan forum for informed foreign policy debate by bringing CFR members together with policymakers, world leaders, academic experts, and prominent thinkers to discuss a wide range of international issues. The Meetings intern provides valuable support for the department in all aspects of meeting programming.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;The responsibilities of the intern will include (but are not limited to):&lt;/strong&gt; &lt;/p&gt;
&lt;ul&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Assisting with all facets of meeting organization, including drafting invitation and confirmation letters, compiling biographies, and making follow-up calls to member participants.&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Providing Washington program staff with logistical support during event preparation.&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Staffing events: registering guests, ushering, and handling microphones.&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Under the direction of Washington Program staff, conducting research on current topics in U.S. foreign policy to help shape upcoming programs.&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Assisting with other administrative support upon request, including document editing, compiling statistics, and database entry.&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;/ul&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Qualifications:&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;ul&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Academic major in international affairs, political science, regional studies, or economics is preferred, though students with a relevant academic, extracurricular or intellectual commitment to international affairs are encouraged to apply &lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Relevant experience in organizing events &lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Extremely detail-oriented &lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Ability to work in a pressured environment&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Excellent communication and Microsoft Office skills&lt;/li&gt;

Current projects address the causes and effects of widespread phenomena such as democratization, globalization, migration, and economic development on domestic politics, foreign relations, and transnational ties within the Western Hemisphere.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt; &lt;/p&gt;

&lt;li&gt;Assisting with literature reviews of the military methods of different non-state armies, varied over time and across regions &lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Attending and summarizing meetings on relevant topics including, but not limited to, defense transformation, national security strategy, and overseas contingency operations&lt;/li&gt;

&lt;p&gt;The Washington External Affairs team comprises of the Congress and U.S. Foreign Policy program and CFR's diplomatic and executive branch initiatives. The Congress program engages members of Congress and their staffs on both sides of the aisle with a weekly roundtable policy discussion series, monthly briefings for House and Senate chiefs of staff, breakfast meetings for new members of Congress, and other on-demand briefings. The program is responsible for distribution of CFR publications and other relevant materials to Capitol Hill. The diplomatic and executive branch initiatives provide U.S. policymakers and foreign officials access to CFR publications, reports, and invitations to select on-the-record CFR meetings. External Affairs also produces regular eNewsletters tailored specifically for the executive branch, Congress, and diplomatic community.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;The Council has an internship available in the Membership and Fellowship Affairs Department.  The intern will have the opportunity to gain an overview of the operations of the Council while gaining valuable work experience.  The intern will be coordinating the publication of the annual Term Member directory in addition to helping with the daily activities of the department as needed.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;The Council on Foreign Relations (CFR) is an independent, nonpartisan membership organization, think tank, and publisher dedicated to being a resource for its members, government officials, business executives, journalists, educators and students, civic and religious leaders, and other interested citizens in order to help them better understand the world and the foreign policy choices facing the United States and other countries. Founded in 1921, CFR carries out its mission by maintaining a diverse membership, with special programs to promote interest and develop expertise in the next generation of foreign policy leaders; convening meetings at its headquarters in New York and in Washington, DC, and other cities where senior government officials, members of Congress, global leaders, and prominent thinkers come together with CFR members to discuss and debate major international issues; supporting a Studies Program that fosters independent research, enabling CFR scholars to produce articles, reports, and books and hold roundtables that analyze foreign policy issues and make concrete policy recommendations; publishing &lt;em&gt;Foreign Affairs&lt;/em&gt;,&lt;em&gt; &lt;/em&gt;the preeminent journal on international affairs and U.S. foreign policy; sponsoring Independent Task Forces that produce reports with both findings and policy prescriptions on the most important foreign policy topics; and providing up-to-date information and analysis about world events and American foreign policy on its website, CFR.org.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt; &lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&lt;em&gt;Foreign Affairs&lt;/em&gt;&lt;strong&gt; &lt;/strong&gt;magazine has a fall internship opening in the Advertising Department.&lt;strong&gt; The main responsibilities of the intern will include (but are not limited to):&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt; &lt;/p&gt;
&lt;ul&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Support the business side of the publication with design, marketing, and production dealines&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Assist with the new &lt;em&gt;Foreign Affairs&lt;/em&gt; website, conduct competitive analysis, and participate in the marketing team&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Help plan and execute all aspects of &lt;em&gt;Foreign Affairs&lt;/em&gt; LIVE, the bimonthly event series bringing authors and subscribers together for evenings of discussion&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Assist in editing letters and coordinating sponsored country sections with media partners&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Assist in coordinating new special sections conceived and executed in house&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Perform research for specific projects and make recommendations&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Participate in department meetings with respect to marketing, sales, production, and strategy&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Administrative support as needed&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;/ul&gt;
&lt;p&gt; &lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Preferred Qualifications:&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt; &lt;/p&gt;
&lt;ul&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Undergraduate student or recent graduate with educational concentration in International Relations, Business, Marketing, or Communications&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Strong Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, XP skills&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Experience with Creative Suite (especially InDesign) preferred.&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;International Affairs and publishing interest/ background preferred&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Ability to work independently and multi-task&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Prior experience with proofreading, editing and online research preferred&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Attention to detail and strong follow through skill required&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;/ul&gt;

&lt;p&gt;The Council's outreach initiative aims to engage an interested and influential group of Americans from around the country and the world by providing ideas and timely, clear, and accurate information on key international issues. CFR.org, America's foremost Internet resource for foreign policy and national security analysis, is one of the primary tools for doing so.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;The responsibilities of the intern include (but are not limited to)&lt;/strong&gt;:&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;li&gt;Providing support in editing and production of pieces for the website, including coding and photo production&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Maintenance of must read databases&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Providing administrative support to CFR.org staff, including correspondence, transcribing interviews, and research&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Assisting with research for interactive multimedia projects&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;/ul&gt;
&lt;p&gt; &lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Preferred Qualifications&lt;/strong&gt;:&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;ul&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Undergraduate or graduate student focusing on international relations and/or journalism&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Previous administrative, journalism, web site experience, and multimedia experience a plus&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Excellent editing and writing skills&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Strong organizational and communication skills&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Strong attention to detail&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Familiarity and facility with online research&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Must be a quick learner.&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel; HTML skills a plus&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Ability to work independently or on a team.&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Candidates should be prepared to work at least three days per week in the fall or spring semesters, and full-time in the summer.&lt;/li&gt;

&lt;p&gt;The Corporate Program, the Council's primary point of contact with the private sector, enlists the business community's participation in and support of the Council's activities.  Corporate members include over 200 U.S. and non-U.S. firms representing a wide range of business sectors, including financial services, law, manufacturing, consulting, technology, media, and others.  Each year the program hosts over 70 events in New York and Washington.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt; &lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;By providing administrative support for the Corporate Program, the intern will gain exposure to leading global companies and economic and political issues affecting international business while building important business skills.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt; &lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;The responsibilities of the intern will include:&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;ul&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Researching multinational companies that may be interested in joining the Corporate Program&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Participating in the administration of conferences and meetings, including making follow-up phone calls to invitees and staffing events&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Maintaining accurate Corporate member records&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Assisting with general administrative duties as required&lt;/li&gt;

&lt;p&gt;With more than one-third of its members based outside of New York and Washington, DC, the goal of the National Program &amp;amp; Outreach is to energize foreign policy discussions nationwide. The National Program supports and connects CFR members across the country. Outreach extends CFR resources to leaders in a cross-section of American life, including the academic community; religious leaders; state and local officials; and civic, nonprofit, and community leaders.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&lt;u&gt; &lt;/u&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;The responsibilities of the intern will include (but are not limited to):&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;ul&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Assisting staff with the coordination and follow up of both National Program and Outreach events.&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Researching and compiling information and contacts for Outreach constituents.&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Assisting staff in projects related to the annual National Conference, which takes place each June, bringing together members from around the country to discuss foreign policy issues.&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Providing general administrative support to the department.&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;/ul&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;&lt;u&gt; &lt;/u&gt;&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Qualifications:&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;ul&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Academic major in international affairs, political science, regional studies, history, or economics is preferred.&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Previous event planning experience preferred.&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Extremely detail-oriented.&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Ability to work in a pressured environment.&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Excellent communication skills and research skills.&lt;/li&gt;

&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;The responsibilities of the intern include (but are not limited to)&lt;/strong&gt;:&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;The Meetings Program seeks to achieve a mix of speakers and issues that respond to the interests of a diverse Council membership and constantly adjusts to the new issues shaping American foreign policy.  The Meetings intern provides valuable support for the department in all aspects of meeting organization.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&lt;u&gt; &lt;/u&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;The responsibilities of the intern will include (but are not limited to):&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;li&gt;Assisting staff in all facets of event preparation and staging, including helping during events in the early morning (7:45-9:00am), afternoon (12:30-2:00pm), evening (5:30-7:00pm), and at dinners (7:00-8:30pm)&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Assisting with correspondence with speakers and confirmation calls to member participants&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Providing research on current events in U.S. foreign policy and general administrative support&lt;/li&gt;

&lt;/ul&gt;

&lt;li&gt;Input RSVPs for events into the database and maintain statistics on topics, speakers, moderators, etc.&lt;/li&gt;
