<p><strong></strong>CFR is looking for an experienced PHP developer to extend the capabilities of ForeignAffairs.com, the website of the bimonthly magazine Foreign Affairs, the premier journal in its field. If hired, you will join a team of ten other Web professionals who together make up a dedicated Web group within CFR. Day-to-day, you will report to the lead Web producer Foreign Affairs and work closely the magazine's circulation, advertising, and editorial groups. Candidates with experience working on media and/or ecommerce sites backed by the Drupal content management system are strongly preferred.</p>

<li>Coordinating closely with outside developers at the magazine's fulfillment vendor and using APIs to access customer databases.</li>

<p>CFR aims to deepen its commitment to the increasingly important issues at the intersection of international relations and international economics by recruiting a policy-focused macroeconomist who can apply the analytical tools of the discipline to questions faced by decision makers in the private sector and government. The macroeconomist could come to CFR either on an open-ended, full-time basis or for a defined period, such as a one- or two-year sabbatical.</p>
<p>The research focus of the macroeconomist would shift with events, but illustrative examples based on today's environment might include:</p>
<ul>
<li>
<div class="NoSpace">The turmoil in the eurozone, including questions relating to the cost/benefit facing key European countries as they debate whether to retain the common currency or support new forms of economic integration.</div>
</li>
<li>
<div class="NoSpace">The fiscal and economic-competitiveness challenge facing the United States.</div>
</li>
<li>
<div class="NoSpace">Threats to the status of the U.S. dollar as the world's dominant reserve currency.</div>
</li>
<li>
<div class="NoSpace">The general loss of dynamism in mature industrial democracies and the challenge to globalization presented by rising powers that may wish to play by different rules.</div>
</li>
</ul>
<p class="NoSpace">The macroeconomist should be versatile enough to contribute to the work of CFR via:</p>
<ul>
<li>
<div class="NoSpace">Long-form writing, e.g., books , scholarly articles, and contributions to journals such as Foreign Affairs.</div>
</li>
<li>
<div class="NoSpace">Short-form commentary, e.g., newspaper op-eds, radio and TV appearances, and other efforts to influence a broad audience.</div>
</li>
<li>
<div class="NoSpace">CFR programming, including meetings, roundtables, and briefings to corporate leaders, government officials, and the media.</div>
</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>Preferred Qualifications:</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>PhD or equivalent experience in Economics.</li>
<li>Experience of working in government, multilateral institutions, or the markets.</li>
<li>An ability to combine depth of scholarship with breadth of outreach.</li>
<li>Strong writing credentials</li>
